Homefront America Will Again Offer $25k in Scholarships for Military Dependent Chidren

Homefront America

San Juan Capistrano, CA - Since 2006, Homefront America's American Patriot Freedom Scholarship Program has helped to fund scholarships to assist our military dependent children with their tuition, fees, supplies, books, and room/board expenses.

With the help of the W. Daniel Tate family and Sara's Hope, the program will again award twenty-five (25) $1,000 scholarships to benefit military dependent children this coming June. This will mark a total of $ 70,000 in scholarships awarded since the program's inception in 2006.

"The organization is extending its application date to allow the children stationed at military bases abroad additional time to submit their applications," said Arthur Hasselbrink, Founder and President of Homefront America.

Qualified Applicants:
Military dependent children of active duty stationed stateside and abroad, retirees, and disabled or fallen service members are eligible to apply. This includes activated or deployed Guardsmen and Reservists.

What is required?
Applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or less on one of four pre-approved topics. Essays will be judged on their originality, length, relationship to topic, grammar and spelling.

Applications, program guidelines, and instructions are now available on-line at www.homefrontamerica.org.

Application Deadline?
All applications must be postmarked by May 30, 2008.

The YMCAs in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area honor a FREE 6-month membership for Military Dependents, kids included! Just go to the Membership desk and show them your husband's orders and you'll receive a 6-month membership to ALL the YMCAs in the Milwaukee Metropolitan area.

Racine & Waukesha do not honor this, but give discounts. I'm not sure which facilities participate in Illinois or other areas, but just ask!! It's a great deal.

A Chicago doctor has found a unique way to say thank you to local service members who serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As seen on Fox News, VIDEO LINK, Dr. Manus C. Kraff shows his patriotism by providing complimentary lasik to veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. The Kraff Eye Institute is offering a free eye exam for any Service Veteran who served after 9/11 in Iraq, or Afghanistan and if this person is a candidate for Lasik surgery this will be also free.
